Before updating your card you will need to access the contents of your card.
With the SD card inserted connect your GPS to your Mac so you see it as a removeable drive
Some units may need to be placed into:
Mass storage mode - Viewing Files Using USB Mass Storage Mode
MTP mode
Spanner Mode - Garmin Spanner Mode on an Outdoor Product
These settings can be changed on your unit before you plug it into your computer.
1.) Log into your account @ https://backroadmapbooks.com
2.) Click the MY GPS MAPS tab.
3.) Click the Title of the Product you would like to update to show the update download button.
4.) Under Map Updates Available for Download Click Mac Updates to download the .zip archive to your computer.
5.) Under Unlock Information Click to download your gma and unl files for the updated version.
The .zip file will be saved with the name of your province and year.
6.) Expand the .zip archive to show the update files.
7.)The zip file will expand to a folder with the name of your Product.
In this example NL2025 and contains the files to update your microSD card.
8.)Copy the .gma file and the .unl file into your update folder containing the .img file and POI folder
PLUG IN YOUR GPS WITH THE CARD INSERTED SO YOU CAN ACCESS THE FILES ON YOUR SD CARD.
9.)On your Existing microSD card you can move all of the files in the Garmin folder to the trash.
10.)Empty the trash to free the space on the card.
11.)On your computer you can navigate to the 2025 update folder and copy all of the files.
12.)Paste the files into the Garmin folder on your microSD card.
13.)Your card will now have the Map data and license files for the 2025 version.
14.)You can rename your microSD card to 2025.
15.) Your maps are up to date you now test the maps on your device.
