Backroad Maps DIGITAL Maps are installed directly to your GPS unit memory, your own SD card or your Garmin Smart Watch
Building and installing your maps can be done using Garmin Basecamp and Mapinstall.
To Install your Backroad Maps Digital version you need Garmin Basecamp installed on your system.
Downloading computer maps for MAC
1.) Go to the our website at Backroadmapbooks
Log into your account on our website, create a new account if you don't have one.
2.) Click on the "MY GPS Maps" button to go to the registration page.
3). Click the small arrow listed to the right of your product title. You may also see "Updates Available" if there are updates available.
4.)Click the Download for Mac button
5.)Navigate to the location of the download *Default location is Downloads
The zip archive will expand to a folder with the same name and contain the .dmg installer and your .gpi file.
6.)Double click the .dmg file to launch the installer.
Click the Yellow box to start the installation.
7.)Download your .gma file from your account.
8.)Double click the .gma file to Launch Map manager.
9.)Click Install to import your license file to basecamp and unlock the maps.
10.) Your maps are now ready to use in Garmin Basecamp
Installing Digital Maps to your Device
1.)Launch Garmin Mapinstall
2.)Garmin Mapinstall will open and list any connected GPS device.
3.)You can click Customize if you want to select a custom area or Click on Send Maps to start transfer of the maps.
4.)Click Done to complete the Map transfer.
INSTALL the .gpi POI file
5.)Copy the .gpi file located in the map installer folder you downloaded.
5.)Paste the .gpi file into the POI folder located inside the GARMIN folder on the GPS unit
If the POI folder does not exist in the Garmin folder you can create it.
6.)You can now unplug the GPS and test that the maps are loading.
